Shotfirer
As a shotfirer, you’ll take control of each step in the blast process, including deciding on the quantity of explosives needed, checking blasting areas to make sure they are safe and positioning and priming explosives using detonators and cartridges.
Location: On site – FIFO (WA)
A typical day in the life:
- Coordinating pre-start inspections
- Making sure all blasting practices are in line with industry regulations and client requirements
- Maintaining explosive magazines and compounds and ensuring enough stock is on hand
- Making sure all documents and reporting are completed accurately and on time
- Provide crews with leadership, mentoring and support, make sure shotcrew are trained correctly, understand their responsibilities and are working safely and efficiently
Skills, experience and qualifications that will help you in this role include:
- Dangerous goods security card
- Shotfiring licence
- C Class manual driver’s licence, with heavy rigid or above highly desirable
- Current senior first aid certificate
- Over 18 years of age
- Dangerous goods driver’s licence
