Offsider or Driller’s Assistant
As an offsider or driller’s assistant you’ll work with a driller to help make sure daily drilling operations run smoothly.
Location: On site – FIFO (WA), DIDO (Peel Region, South West WA)
A typical day in the life:
- Carrying out pre-start inspections of equipment before drilling begins
- Sampling
- Assisting with bore construction, mud pits and sumps
- Helping to monitor drill equipment and carrying out drill and consumable sharpening and handling
- Setting up any supplementary equipment
- Delivering and topping up water or fuel to drill rigs
- Lending a hand to drillers and maintenance personnel servicing and repairing equipment
- Carrying out general labouring tasks such as stocktakes and store duties, cleaning and organising work areas
Skills, experience and qualifications that will help you in this role include:
- Certificate II in Drilling
- C Class manual driver’s licence, with heavy rigid or above highly desirable
- Current senior first aid certificate
- Mechanical aptitude
- Over 18 years of age
- 4×4 drivers course
