Drillers (Blast Hole or RC)
Working as a driller, you’ll be in charge of carrying out daily drilling operations and helping to manage drill crews on site.
Location: On site – Peel (DIDO), Gascoyne (FIFO) or Pilbara (FIFO)
A typical day in the life:
- Coordinating pre-start inspections
- Drilling grade control holes, exploration or water bore holes depending on project needs
- Managing offsiders/ drillers assistants and making sure they’re working safely and efficiently and able to carry out their daily tasks
- Making sure all documents and drill reports are completed accurately and on time
- Helping to maintain the drill and support equipment during downtime
- Adhering to company and client environmental programs to protect our people and the environment
- Providing crews with leadership, training and direction and reporting career path progress to management
Skills, experience and qualifications that will help you in this role include:
- Certificate III in Drilling
- Current senior first aid certificate
- Two years’ experience in drill rig operation
- High risk licensing, including but not limited to; dogging, rigging, working at heights, use of vehicle mounted crane, backhoe
- BSB41415 – Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (within two years of operation)
