Following the success of the first Equus drill rigs at our long term project in WA’s south west, the build of an additional rig was recently completed at our Bibra Lake workshop.
The rig has been designed to deliver high quality samples even in challenging ground conditions, such as dense bushland, steep terrain and damp conditions and combines an innovative vac-core drilling method with an all-terrain carrier.
The vac-core drilling method combines standard vacuum drilling and air-core drilling, creating a unique method that is suited to these tough conditions, without the need for high energy and air consumption and a large footprint drill.
The rig operates on a tractor-mounted carrier, with 450mm of ground clearance meaning it can climb over uneven ground and forest debris and can withstand 30+ degree slopes.
Since the first Equus rig was commissioned to site in 2019, we have continued to see exceptional results in terms of safety, rig availability, productivity and sample quality.
